Roaches Hall is an exclusive-use country house on the Staffordshire edge of the Peak District, near Leek. Built in 1876 and tucked beneath the famous Roaches ridge, it sleeps 30 guests across 13 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, with a dining room for 34, two games rooms and private gardens with sweeping Peak District views.
It’s one of the most characterful places to stay in the Peak District for micro weddings, hen parties, relaxed stag dos (for groups aged 30+), milestone birthdays, corporate retreats and big family get-togethers. Walk out of the front door and you’re in the beautiful Peak District.

On the doorstep of the Roaches
Roaches Hall sits right beneath the Roaches, one of the Peak District’s most dramatic gritstone edges and a favourite with walkers and climbers. Follow the path from the house and you’ll be on the ridge in about ten minutes, with views over the Staffordshire Moorlands and Tittesworth Reservoir.
From here you can walk to Lud’s Church, a mossy, hidden chasm steeped in legend, or loop round Hen Cloud and Doxey Pool. The Daily Telegraph named the Roaches one of the top ten walks in the UK.
Our story
A house with a wild history
Roaches Hall was built in 1876 for John Hall, a partner in a Leek silk firm. In the 1930s it became an outpost of London Zoo, home to yaks, llamas and red-necked wallabies. The wallabies escaped onto the Roaches and lived wild on the moors for decades.

Yes, up to 5 dogs are welcome at £40 per dog. Please add them when you book. Dogs aren’t allowed in the bedrooms.
Is it self-catering?
Yes. The kitchen is fully equipped for big group meals, and you can also bring in a private chef or caterer.
